AMERICUS, Ga.
- After a pair of losses, one Friday and dropping
the first game of a doubleheader today, the No. 12 Georgia College
& State University baseball team (12-6, 4-2 PBC) scored more
runs in the third game than the first two combined to take the
third contest at Georgia Southwestern State University (10-13, 3-3
PBC) 13-6. GCSU lost yesterday 4-3 and dropped the opener today
6-2.
In the opener, the Bobcats got two unearned runs in the top of
the ninth. Sean Harrell (Martinez,
Ga.) walked and scored, while Kyle Allen (Conyers,
Ga.) singled and scored.
Hurricane starter Whiggum went eight in the win, fanning three.
Dylan
Lightell (Rosamond, Calif.) went 2 2/3 innings in the
loss (1-2).
The Bobcats put up seven runs in the second, adding six more
over the fourth-fifth-and-sixth. Matt Pitts (Brunswick,
Ga.) drove in three with a two run single and a
bases-loaded walk. ChandlerSnell
(Loganville, Ga.) ripped three singles and drove in a
pair.
Harrell and Derek Johns
(Waynesville, Ga.) each went 2-for-6.
Clete
Jessup (Darien, Ga.) nabbed the win (2-0) in six
innings, fanning nine.
The Bobcats are back in action Tuesday, March 10 hosting
Pfeiffer University at 6 p.m.
