MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - The No. 8 Georgia College
& State University baseball (29-11) rattled off 15 hits in an
11-5 rout of the University of West Georgia (13-25) today (April
15) at John Kurtz Field.
Designated hitter Buddy Elmore
(Dallas) and rightfielder Derek Johns
(Waynesville, Ga.) had three hits apiece to pace the
Bobcat offensive onslaught. The 3-4-5 hitters went a combined
9-for-13 with eight RBI and seven runs.
Georgia College got three in the very first inning, getting RBI
singles from Johns, Steve Muoio (Rochester,
N.Y.) and Brooks Robinson
(Evans, Ga.). All told, the Bobcat bats had four multi-run
innings.
Johns finished 3-for-5 with three runs and two RBI, while Elmore
was 3-for-4 plating a pair and scoring twice, including a two-run
home run in the third. Muoio was 2-for-2 with an RBI, and catcher
Pete
Paris (Scranton, Pa.) added a 2-for-3 effort, scoring
once and driving in two. Junior Andrew Evans
(Milledgeville, Ga.) knocked a two-run laser-beam over the
leftfield fence in the sixth in his only trip to the plate.
Junior righty Kyle Cravey (Cordele,
Ga.) nabbed the win (3-0) going the first three innings of
shutout ball, allowing just two hits and fanning one.
The Bobcats are back in action Saturday, April 18 at 1 p.m. for
a doubleheader at UNC Pembroke.
