– The Bobcat baseball team at Georgia College &
State University (8-7) lost to No. 28 Erskine College (18-5)
Tuesday in game that saw 40 hits and 35 runs scored as the Flying
Fleet downed the Bobcats 21-14.
Six batters for the
Bobcats finished with multi-hit games. Second baseman Jason
Veyna ( Lamar , Colo. ), third baseman Paul
Bordon ( Martinez , Ga. ), leftfielder Kyle
Allen ( Conyers , Ga. ) and first baseman Matt
Pitts ( Brunswick , Ga. ) all finished with two hits
each. Catcher Richard
Pirkle ( Norcross , Ga. ) had three hits while
centerfielder Sean
Harrell ( Martinez , Ga. ) had a team-best four
hits.
Milledgeville native
Andrew Evans and Pirkle both hit home
runs and finished with two RBI and three RBI, respectively. Pirkle
leads the team with eight blasts and 27 RBI on the season.
Pitts finished with
four RBI and two stolen bases, putting him at eight on the season
and tied for the team-high with shortstop ChandlerSnell
( Loganville , Ga. ).
Chas Anthony had one
of the hot bats for the Flying Fleet going 5-for-5.
Georgia College
returns home Wednesday, March 10 against Clark Atlanta University
at 5 p.m. at John Kurtz Field.
