Box Score VALDOSTA, Ga. – It was a
battle, but the No. 3 Georgia College baseball team (9-2) finally
put down an always tough Valdosta State University (3-8) squad
Wednesday, 3-1 on the road.
Travis Echols (Lawrenceville, Ga.),
Josh Young (Lake Havasu City, Ariz.) and
Shawn Ward (Evans, Ga.) each tallied RBI, Echols
with the go-ahead run in the eighth on a bases-loaded walk.
GC got its scoring going in the fifth, when Ikaika
Anderson (Austell, Ga.) led off with a walk. Anderson
promptly stole second and third, scoring on a Young sacrifice
fly.
Ward ripped an RBI single up the middle in the ninth, bringing
the score to 3-1 while plating Anderson, who walked.
Picking up the victory for the Bobcats was reliever Ryan
Parson (Madison, Ga.) (1-1) who went 2 2/3 innings,
allowing just one hit while striking out four. Senior
Tanner Moore (Thomasville, Ga.) earned his fourth
save of the season while tossing the final two innings
scoreless.
The Bobcats are back in action Friday, Feb. 25 at 6 p.m.,
hosting Philadelphia University.
