#5 GC Baseball Wiped Out in Game One, Washed Out in Game Two

Box Score

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – No. 5 Georgia College baseball (21-8, 6-4 PBC) struggled in game one and rain halted game two of Saturday's doubleheader with USC Aiken (17-11, 3-7 PBC) at John Kurtz Field. The Bobcats fell 10-1 in the completed game.

GC got its lone run in the fourth, when leftfielder Josh Young (Lake Havasu City, Ariz.) doubled with one out. After advancing on a fly out, Young came across the plate on a Tanner Funk (Kearney, Mo.) single.

The Pacers scored four runs in the top of the first, adding two each in the fourth and sixth innings to gain a large advantage.

GC couldn't string any hits together, as USCA starter Houston Taylor (3-0) scattered 10 hits over the complete-game effort, fanning four and walking none. GC starter Eric Pettepher (Gordon, Ga.) took his first loss (4-1) allowing six runs in four innings.

Designated hitter Jim Moreland (Suwanee, Ga.) was the lone multi-hit performer for the 'Cats, going 2-for-3.

The Bobcats and Pacers started game two, and GC led 2-1 in the second inning before rain began to fall. The teams will pick things up with a doubleheader tomorrow at 1 p.m., starting in the second inning and wrapping up with game three immediately following.
