#7 GC Baseball Fooled by Georgia Southwestern, 4-3

AMERICUS, Ga. – A two-run bottom of the ninth felled the No. 7 Georgia College baseball team (23-9, 8-5 PBC) Friday night at Georgia Southwestern State University (19-13, 7-6 PBC) 4-3.

The Hurricanes got all four of their runs in the last three innings to steal a win from The Bobcats. GC surrendered the game with two errors and a passed ball in the ninth.

Senior catcher Richard Pirkle (Norcross, Ga.) ripped two solo home runs as part of a 3-for-3 night, and Josh Young (Lake Havasu City, Ariz.) drove in another run on a sacrifice fly. Second baseman Luke McKay (Augusta, Kan.) had a multi-hit game, going 2-for-4.

Lefty starter Mike Guinane (Glenview, Ill.) went eight strong innings, allowing two runs on six hits and fanning three. Closer Tanner Moore (Thomasville, Ga.) allowed two unearned runs in the ninth to take the loss (1-2).

'Cane starter Trent Franzago (5-4) went the distance in the win, striking out 10 Bobcats while allowing the three earned runs. GSW centerfielder Michael Coffey was 2-for-5 with two RBI and a home run.

The Bobcats finish the three-game set with a doubleheader tomorrow, April 2 at 1 p.m.
