Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The No. 21 Georgia College baseball team (32-14) won both big and little in a doubleheader over Erskine College (26-21) 9-8 and 7-0 Saturday at John Kurtz Field.

In game one, the Bobcats got a walk-off hit from Patrick Daugherty (Kennesaw, Ga.) to avenge the collapse of a four-run lead in the top half. The Bobcats plated two runs in the bottom of the eighth, doubling their lead to 8-4. Rightfielder Shawn Ward (Evans, Ga.) and shortstop Tanner Funk (Kearney, Mo.) had RBI hits in the inning. Funk finished 2-for-5.

The Flying Fleet rallied for four big runs in the top of the inning, setting up Daugherty's heroics. The big blow of the inning was a three-run triple by Casey Winckowski.

An error put the first runner on for GC in the ninth, giving way to pinch runner Shawn Haley (Canton, Ga.). After a sacrifice bunt, Daugherty took the first pitch he saw to right center for the game-winning run.

Lefty Mike Guinane (Glenview, Ill.) got the win (8-1), despite giving up the four runs in two innings of work. Fleet reliever Kit Carter (1-2) got the loss, getting just the one out in the ninth. Bobcat leftfielder Josh Young (Lake Havasu City, Ariz.) had just one hit, scoring twice and stealing three bases.

In game two, the Bobcats got a great outing from lefty starter Jason Nicholas (Wright City, Mo.), his third-straight victory (8-2). Nicholas tossed seven shutout innings, scattering five hits and two walks while striking out eight.

The 'Cats got seven runs on eight hits, taking advantage of seven walks and an error by the Flying Fleet. Funk was 3-for-4, driving in a pair and scoring once. First baseman Cody Maas (Alpharetta, Ga.) was 2-for-3 with two RBI. Ward finished 2-for-4 with a run, while third baseman Travis Echols (Lawrenceville, Ga.) plated three, tallying just one hit.

Fleet starter Robbie Brown (1-2) took the loss in 5 1/3 innings, allowing four runs.

The Bobcats take on the Fleet again Monday, April 25 at 3 p.m. in Due West, S.C.
