Bobcat Men Drop Conference Opener, 63-59

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College men's basketball team (3-3, 0-1 PBC) dropped its Peach Belt Conference (PBC) opener Tuesday in the Centennial Center to Georgia Southwestern State University (5-2, 1-0 PBC) in a defensive battle, 63-59

Senior forward Scott Ferguson (Roswell, Ga.) led three Bobcats in double figures with a game-high 16 points. Sophomore David Wagner (Dallas, Ga.) tallied 10 points with a team-best six rebounds, while junior Aaron Robinson (Lawrenceville, Ga.) matched his career high with 13 points.

The Hurricanes put four in double-figure scoring, but none with more than the 11 points they got from Milos Kleut and Matt Shaw. The GSW bench out-scored Georgia College's reserves 29-10.

Georgia College was out-shot 39 percent (23-59) to 47 percent (24-51) in the first home loss for the Bobcats this season. GSW out-rebounded the Bobcats 38-29. Georgia College has now lost conference openers in two-straight seasons.

The Bobcats scored the first seven points of the contest, leading by as much as 14-5 in the early going. The Canes battled back to take their first lead with 6:04 left in the half. GSW held a 27-25 lead at the break.  

The Bobcats are back in action Saturday, Dec. 15 at 3:30 p.m., hosting Francis Marion University. The contest will serve as a fundraiser for the Creekside Elementary School PTA, as tickets purchased through PTA members will give a $3 donation back to the school.
