MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College baseball team (9-8, 2-2 PBC) fell to the bats of the Lander University Bearcats (12-5, 3-1 PBC) Sunday night, 10-0.

The night did not start in the Bobcats' favor as Lander's Kevin Starr blasted a three-run shot over the right field fence to open up the scoring for the Bearcats. Lander would strike again in the top half of the fifth when Jordan Owens hit his second grand slam in as many games. The Bearcats would add one more in the sixth and two in eighth to round off the scoring.

Lander's Chris Thomas tossed a gem scattering four hits in a complete game shutout, fanning seven. Travis Echols (Suwanee, Ga.), Clay Ardeeser (Loganville, Ga.), Cody Maas (Alpharetta, Ga.) and Patrick Daugherty (Kennesaw, Ga.) all had one hit apiece.

Derek McGowan (Raytown, Mo.) started on the hill for the Bobcats giving up seven runs in 4 1/3 innings pitched. Matt Kaplan (Alpharetta, Ga.) relieved McGowan for 2 2/3 innings surrendering one earned run, recording three strikeouts.

The Bobcats end the series with a doubleheader against Lander Monday afternoon set to start at 1 p.m.
