GC Baseball Loses to Erskine, 17-6

Box Score

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College (25-14) pitching staff had trouble holding down a potent Erskine College order (25-21) Wednesday night at John Kurtz Field, as the Flying Fleet beat the Bobcats 17-6.

Erskine took control of the game from the very first pitch, as centerfielder Chase Corn deposited the first offer of the game over the rightfield fence for a solo home run, igniting a five-run first for the Fleet.

Erskine posted multi-run innings over the first four frames, finishing with a 14-0 lead over the first five. Georgia College posted three-run innings in both the sixth and seventh innings, but the rally stopped there.

First baseman Clay Ardeeser (Loganville, Ga.) was 2-for-5 with a pair of doubles, driving in two and scoring twice. Shortstop Daniel Bick (Alpharetta, Ga.) and designated hitter Taylor Hinshaw (Winder, Ga.) both went 2-for-5 also, Hinshaw driving in a run and Bick scoring one. The 2-3-4 hitters tallied six of the team's nine hits.

Erskine starter Austin Gambrell went six innings, surrendering three runs for the win (1-0). Bobcat starter Christian Bragg (Augusta, Ga.) dropped to 3-2 in the loss. Erskine first baseman Drew Willingham was a perfect 4-for-4, plating three runs and scoring two.

The Bobcats are back in action Friday, April 19 at 6 p.m., traveling to Young Harris College.
