Box Score

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College baseball team (24-10, 12-6 PBC) out-lasted No. 3 Lander University (29-8, 18-6 PBC) 8-7 Sunday at John Kurtz Field, taking the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) series 2-1. Bobcat head coach Tom Carty picked up his 200th career victory in the win, all coming in the Georgia College dugout.

The Bobcats jumped out early to a 5-0 lead after the first two innings. Catcher Cody Maas (Alpharetta, Ga.) ripped a two-run double in the first and a sacrifice fly in the second. Jeremy Donaldson (Winder, Ga.) and Clay Ardeeser (Loganville, Ga.) each added run-scoring singles.

After Lander cut the lead to 5-3, the Bobcats scored another two in the fifth when second baseman Ryan Sabalaskey (Carol Stream, Ill.) hit an opposite-field two-run shot, his first in a Bobcat uniform.

Lander then cut it to 7-6 in the seventh, when the Bobcats answered with an RBI single from Sabalaskey. The Bearcats picked up another run in the eighth to make it 8-7, but would get no closer.

Lefty Christian Bragg (Augusta, Ga.) got the win (3-1) in relief, going three innings. Jordan Brooks (Macon, Ga.) notched his second save, tossing the final two frames.

Maas finished 3-for-4 with three RBI and a run, while Sabalaskey added the same hitting numbers, driving in three and scoring twice. Shortstop Daniel Bick (Alpharetta, Ga.) was 2-for-4 with two runs, and Donaldson had two hits with an RBI. Rounding out the multi-hit performers was Rob Hogenkamp (St. Louis) tallying three hits in four trips, adding two runs.

Lander starter Logan Pemberton suffered his first loss of the season (7-1) unable to make it to the third inning. Rightfielder Patrick Grady was 2-for-3 with two RBI and a run.

The Bobcats are back in action Wednesday, April 10 at 3 p.m. traveling to Erskine College.
