MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College men's basketball team (3-2) exploded on offense Monday night in a staggering 86-41 victory over Fort Valley State University (0-3) in the Centennial Center. This marks the fewest points scored against the Bobcats since Carson-Newman College posted 30 on Nov. 19, 2010.
The Bobcats wasted no time in their scoring efforts, ending the first half with a 20-point lead 42-22. Senior Larrentis Thomas (McDonough) registered his third straight game of double-digit scoring, going into halftime with 10 points. He would later nab his third-straight double-double adding 15 rebounds along with his total 16 points on the night.
Four other Bobcats also netted double-digit scoring. Freshman Rio McMillian (Park Forest, Illinois) recorded his first double-double and career-high in scoring with 13 points and 13 rebounds. Classmates Ryan Blumenthal (Kennesaw), Dwight Anderson (Minneapolis, Minnesota), and Terrell Harris (Indiantown, Florida) all scored 13, 12, and 11 points, respectively.
All eight active Bobcats reached the scoring column, and the Bobcats had a 42-16 advantage in points in the paint.
Even though Fort Valley towered in size through the paint, the Bobcats battled and out-rebounded the Wildcats 61-41. The Bobcats' offense spelled trouble for the Wildcats all night long and ended with Georgia College shooting 40 percent (32-80) on the night to Fort Valley's 23 percent (15-64).
The Bobcats will be back in action Tuesday, Dec. 2 in the Centennial Center to take on Albany State University at 7:30 p.m.
