AUGUSTA, Ga. – Georgia College senior Abby Dalton (Macon) and sophomore Allyease Schwartz (Roswell) have both been named Peach Belt Conference (PBC) AstroTurf Players of the Week. This the first time Georgia College soccer has received dual honors since 2011, when Taylor Cornelius (Dacula) and Jamie Colcord (2009-12) were recognized for their efforts.
Dalton is leaving everything she has on the pitch during her last season as a Bobcat student-athlete. Owning the Georgia College record for career assists with 23, she extended her lead logging three more this week. She was a part of the scoring crew in the 8-0 win over Georgia Southwestern State University, netting the sixth goal of the match and her third of the season. Her final assist in the regular season was a perfectly placed pass ahead to a running Ally Barys (Ladera Ranch, California) for the game-winning goal in the 106th minute of double-overtime against Flagler to seal a playoff spot.
Schwartz has been a staple in the Bobcat defense all season long. In the two matches this week, her speed aided in holding Georgia Southwestern and Flagler scoreless. During the team's 8-0 win over GSW, the Bobcat defense held the Hurricanes to zero shots in the first half and just four over the entire match. With a playoff spot on the line, Schwartz led the charge on the back line to keep Flalger from netting a goal in 107 minutes of play and limiting them to only two shots total in two overtime periods.
The Bobcats will be on the road for the first round of the PBC Tournament Tuesday, Nov. 4 at 5 p.m. against the University of North Georgia.
