Box Score ATLANTA, Ga. – Junior guard Ryan Blumenthal (Kennesaw) provided a spark with 21 points off the bench as Georgia College men's basketball (5-2) topped Clark Atlanta University (1-6) 76-63 on the road Thursday night. The win starts an eight-game road stretch for the Bobcats.
Blumenthal knocked down 6-of-10 shots from the field, 4-of-6 from long range and all five of his free throws for 21 points. The scoring total was the most for the junior this season, and his most overall since netting 22 against the University of North Georgia Jan. 22.
Clark Atlanta fired out of the gates for a quick 11-2 lead after the first 5:30. The Bobcats responded, tying it up at 12-12 just 2:30 later on a Blumenthal jumper. After a scoreless Panther possession, he would hit a three for the first Bobcat lead of the game, and Georgia College would remain in front the rest of the way.
Guard Terrell Harris (Indiantown, Florida) scored 16 points, giving the junior double-figure scoring in all six of his games this season. Senior Larrentis Thomas (McDonough) scored 10 points with nine rebounds, falling short of his fifth-straight double-double.
The Bobcats out-shot the Panthers 42 percent (24-57) to 37 percent (23-63) and enjoyed a 46-35 advantage in rebounding.
Clark Atlanta was led by 14 points and six steals from Kenneth Green, while Cornell Barnett added 12 points and Najee Whitehead 11.
The win avenges an overtime defeat at home for Georgia College on Nov. 22, 84-83. Green was the hero of the first meeting, finishing off a put-back dunk with 0.2 seconds left for the win. Georgia College has now won both rematches with the two teams to hand the Bobcats defeats in the young season, paired with Tuesday's win over Albany State University.
The Bobcats are back in action Saturday, Dec. 6 at 8 p.m., traveling to Fort Valley State University.
