#26 GC Baseball Captures Complete Sweep of Georgia Southwestern

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The No. 26 Georgia College baseball team sealed a complete sweep of Georgia Southwestern State University after Sunday's doubleheader. The Bobcats took game two 7-2 and game three 9-4.

Senior Justin Blue (Mulberry, Fla.) threw a solid nine innings for the Bobcats in game one of today's match up. Blue (3-1) held the Hurricanes to just five hits and two runs, while striking out four. Rightfielder Jake Sandlin (Evans, Ga.) and catcher Steve Hazel (Kentwood, Mich.) led the squad with three hits apiece. Sandlin tallied a total of two RBI.

The Bobcats scored runs in the fourth, fifth, seventh and ninth, the final inning providing three big runs to push the game out of reach for the Hurricanes. Shortstop Daniel Bick (Alpharetta, Ga.) was 2-for-3 with a pair of runs and two RBI, while first baseman Clay Ardeeser (Loganville, Ga.) had two doubles, two runs scored and one driven in. Second baseman Brandon Benson (Loganville, Ga.) added a 2-for-4 effort with an RBI.

Junior Josh Taylor (Phoenix, Ariz.) started Sunday's second game and recorded a win (3-1) after pitching eight innings. Taylor left after eight innings, giving up just six hits and one earned run with three strikeouts.

Sandlin recorded three more hits and was accompanied by Bick. Bick and Hazel both contributed three RBI, accounting for six of the nine total runs. Sandlin added one more RBI, making his total four for the day.

Centerfielder Rob Hogenkamp (St. Louis) was 2-for-5 with a run and third baseman Mike McGraw (Newnan, Ga.) had a 2-for-5 game with an RBI.

The Bobcats put their four-game win streak on the line Wednesday, March 12 at 3 p.m., traveling to North Greenville University.
