Box Score

GREENWOOD, S.C. – The No. 12 Georgia College baseball team (26-11, 13-9 PBC) got swept in a Peach Belt Conference (PBC) series for the first time this season Sunday, with a 7-6 loss at No. 3 Lander University (35-6, 21-6 PBC).

First baseman Clay Ardeeser (Loganville, Ga.) was 3-for-4 with three RBI and a run, ripping a solo home run and a two-run single.

The Bobcats had a 3-0 lead in the top of the third after Ardeeser's single scored Brandon Benson (Loganville, Ga.) and Ryan Sabalaskey (Carol Stream, Ill.). After Lander took a 5-3 lead in the fourth, the Bobcats eventually tied it back up in the sixth. Then, a two-run sixth put Lander back in front for good.

Benson finished with two runs scored despite not recording a hit. The lone other multi-hit performer was rightfielder Jake Sandlin (Evans, Ga.) at 2-for-5 and a run scored.

Righty reliever Jordan Modine (Ft. Pierce, Fla.) fell to 2-1 with the loss in 2 1/3 innings of work. Sophomore Jordan Brooks (Macon, Ga.) held Lander scoreless for the final two innings to keep things close. Bearcat reliever Johnny Walker went two innings for the win (1-0). Brandon White picked up his ninth save of the season with a hitless ninth.

Georgia College had the tying run in scoring position in both the seventh and ninth innings, but couldn't bring the equalizer across.

The Bobcats are back in action Wednesday, April 16 at 5 p.m. for Miracle League Day at John Kurtz Field against Valdosta State University.
