MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College women's volleyball team (4-5, 0-3 PBC) hosted nationally-ranked No. 24 Armstrong State University (7-1, 2-0 PBC) Saturday, Sept. 20 in the Centennial Center. The Pirates topped the Bobcats 3-0.

The Bobcats took the floor this afternoon looking to strike early. Although fighting all the way through the first set, the Bobcats could not hold a lead falling 26-24. The Pirates then took control of the match, taking the next two sets 25-13 and 25-12, respectively.

During the first set, neither team had a lead of more than four points. The Bobcats took that four-point lead 24-20 but were stopped as the Pirates went on a six-point run to take the set. On every Pirate attack, junior Ella Anastasiades (Atlanta) could be seen making a move for the ball. She tallied an impressive 15 digs in the first set alone, ending the match with 22.

Setter Mollie Michel (Peachtree City) spread out her 18 assists throughout the match as seven Bobcats registered kills. Sophomore Miller Howard (Suwanee) rounded up the most kills with eight. Ashley Savransky (Roswell) and Maggie Roper (Buford) each had three, while Blake Willoughby (Savannah), Caroline Long (Roswell), and Bailey Freeman (Hillsborough, North Carolina) all had two.

The Bobcats' .076 hitting percentage was no match compared to the Pirates' .336. Emily Wylie led with 14 kills. Stephanie Sfara was close behind with 13 and Anna McGee joined them with 12.

Georgia College return to the Centennial Center once again Tuesday, Sept. 23 at 7 p.m. as the Bobcats take on Fort Valley State University.
