MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College volleyball squad (5-5) completely overpowered Fort Valley State University (5-9) Tuesday. The Bobcats took the quick path to victory, posting three sets to zero.

"Tonight was a great team effort," said head coach Gretchen Krumdieck. "Our goal was to mentally stay in the match and play at a high level. I'm very proud of the way our team played tonight and we will take this momentum into this weekend's matches."

The Bobcats held the Wildcats under 15 points in each set, taking the three 25-13, 25-11, and 25-12.

The Bobcat bench lit up the Centennial Center with their ability to enter the match and perform. Freshman Bailey Freeman (Hillsborough, North Carolina) and birthday girl Chandler Ewaldsen (Savannah) both had breakout performances, leading the squad with six kills. Senior Lauren Johnston (Acworth) and freshman Maggie Roper (Buford) were close behind with four each. Sophomore Micayla Patterson (Peachtree City) took over as setter in the second set, garnering 17 total assists. Defensive Specialist Caroline Ham (Marietta) came into the match without missing a beat.

Georgia College set a new record tonight with the most aces in a match while playing at home. Collectively they had 15 with Mollie Michel (Peachtree City) serving up 5. The Bobcats had over twice as many kills with 33 total. Briana Shepherd led Fort Valley with nine kills.

The Bobcats will travel to Lander University Friday, Sept. 26 taking on the Bearcats at 7 p.m.
