MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College soccer team (0-1) opened its season away at Florida Southern College (1-0) Friday. The Bobcats fought hard but fell 3-0 to the Mocs.
"I was pleased with the work-rate and fight the ladies had tonight," said head coach Hope Clark. "Unfortunately, we were not the better team. Florida Southern played with confidence in their home opener and we were caught chasing the game."
The Bobcats struggled to get moving in the first half with the Mocs scoring their first goal 12 minutes into the match. The second ball found its way into the back of the goal with 12:50 left in the first half. Georgia College rallied on defense in the second half, allowing four shots to first half's seven.
Margot Chowansky netted the first goal of the season for FSC from 15 yards out. Kirra Rainbow provided the second before the halftime horn. Abby Bravo scored the lone goal of the second half in the 59th minute. Jackie Metz, Taylor Cox and Bravo each tallied assists.
