Box Score FLORENCE, S.C. – The Georgia College volleyball team (9-8, 4-5 PBC) dropped three sets at Francis Marion University (11-7, 4-4 PBC) Friday night 25-15, 27-25 and 25-21.
The Bobcats were led in kills by freshman Ebony Powers (Jacksonville, Florida) at 10. She hit an amazing .444 with just two errors in 18 attempts.
Setter Kayla Brockway (Jacksonville, Florida) had 28 assists, while Katie Ray (Cumming) had 22 digs, a career-best for her in a three-set match.
Down 21-16 in the third set, the Bobcats battled back, getting four out of the next five to come within 22-20. The Patriots then rattled off three points to just one more for the Bobcats, closing the match.
The loss puts Georgia College at 4-5 in Peach Belt Conference (PBC) play, good for eighth in the league standings. The top eight squads advance to the PBC Tournament in November.
The Bobcats are back in action Saturday, Oct. 17 at 2 p.m., playing host to Augusta University (11-6, 4-4 PBC). The Jaguars will play at Newberry College Tuesday before coming to Milledgeville.
