ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The Georgia College volleyball team (10-13, 4-10 PBC) took a 2014 NCAA Tournament Qualifier to the limit Friday night, dropping a four-set match at Flagler College (17-5, 10-3 PBC).

The Saints took the first set 25-22, then Georgia College evened the score with a dominant 25-19 second set. Flagler then nabbed the next two by tight 25-23 and 25-20 scores.

Freshman Taylor Svehla (Cumming, Georgia) led the team with 11 kills, hitting a strong .300. Classmate Ebony Powers (Jacksonville) added 10 kills of her own, firing at a blistering .444 clip.

Freshman Kayla Brockway (Jacksonville) posted 39 assists, adding an impressive six aces. Senior Ella Anastasiades (Atlanta, Georgia) led the team with 15 digs, with sophomore Katie Ray (Cumming, Georgia) adding 11.

The loss puts Georgia College at 4-10 in Peach Belt Conference (PBC) play, good for eighth in the league standings. The top eight squads advance to the PBC Tournament Nov. 17.

The Bobcats are back in action Saturday, Oct. 31 at 2 p.m., traveling to Armstrong State University (13-8, 9-4 PBC). The Pirates most recently swept Augusta University today.
