Box Score DAHLONEGA, Ga. – Getting 29 points from Terrell Harris (Indiantown, Florida), the Georgia College men's basketball team (1-0) started the 2015-16 season off on the right foot Friday, a 76-72 victory over Emmanuel College (0-1) at the Peach Belt Conference/Conference Carolinas Challenge at the University of North Georgia.
Harris went 17-of-20 from the free-throw line, over half of his 29 points. He filled the boxscore with six rebounds, five assists a block and three steals.
Down by as much as nine at 16-7 at the 14 minute mark in the first half, the Bobcats came battling back, eventually taking the lead at 26-24 on a layup from Chaz Berry (Fayetteville). The Bobcats would never trail after that point, despite a pesky Emmanuel rally in the second half nearly wiping out a once 14-point advantage for Georgia College.
Things got real interesting when the Lions cut the lead to 74-72 with 23 seconds left on a pair of Austin Green free-throws. After a Bobcat turnover gave the Lions the chance to tie, a missed shot was pulled in by Ryan Blumenthal (Acworth) who then sealed the game with a pair of free throws on the other end.
Berry joined Harris in double figure scoring with 10, hitting a pair of threes in four tries in his first collegiate action. Putting up nine points each were Rio McMillian (Chicago Heights, Illinois) and Blumenthal. Freshman Isaac Thomas (Trion) had a solid start to his career, tallying seven points and eight rebounds.
The Bobcats waste little time as they are back in action tomorrow, Nov. 14 at 2 p.m., battling Pfeiffer University in the final day of the classic. The Bobcats have now won 10 straight season openers.
