ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The Georgia College baseball team (3-6, 0-2 PBC) dropped the first two games of its three-game series to No. 24 Flagler College (10-1, 5-0 PBC) Saturday, Feb. 21 by scores of 3-0 and 3-2.

Game one was scoreless through the first six and a half innings until Flagler got the first score to make it 1-0. The Saints would tack on two more in the eight to stretch the lead to 3-0 and secure the victory.

Senior Jake Anthony (Canton) took the hard luck loss for the Bobcats after tossing seven innings and only allowing one run. He surrendered five hits and struck out four Flagler batters, dropping to 1-1 on the season.

Offense was tough to come by in game one, as they only notched four hits in the shutout, with no one recording a multi-hit effort.

The second game of the day was much of the same for the Bobcats, this time scoring two runs on seven hits. After falling behind 3-0 through five innings, Georgia College got two back on a Brandon Benson (Loganville) two-run homer that plated redshirt-junior Jake Sandlin (Evans).

The Bobcats would only reach base safely one more time after the sixth, another hit by Benson, this one a single. He finished 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored. Junior Dylan Cook (Portola Valley, California) also had two hits in game two, going 2-for-4.

Redshirt-junior John Clark (Duluth) started the game for Georgia College, pitching three innings and giving up two earned runs. The loss moves Clark to 0-1 this year. Clark was relieved by freshman Charlie Hecht (Johns Creek) in the fourth. Hecht tossed four and two-thirds innings, allowing just one run on four hits, while striking out four.

The Bobcats are back in action Sunday, Feb. 22 as they finish the three-game series with Flagler. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
