ALBANY, Ga. – The Georgia College softball team (30-4) extended its win streak to nine Monday with a doubleheader sweep of Albany State University (4-13), 15-1 and 5-0.

The bats came alive for the Bobcats in game one, scoring 15 runs on 14 hits while taking advantage of six Golden Ram errors on the way to a mercy-rule victory.

Freshman Holland Coursey (Sugar Hill) was the offensive star in the first game as she went 3-for-3 with five RBI and two runs scored. She blasted two home runs, the first two of the freshman's career, also adding a single and a stolen base.

Sophomore Danielle Bernstein (Cumming) also notched three hits in game one, going 3-for-3 with two runs scored and a RBI.

Juniors Abi LeRoy (Dublin) and Kristen Brooks (Brunswick) both rattled off two hits in the contest. LeRoy and freshman Baylee Hall (Hephzibah) both recorded multi-RBI games.

Pitcher Marisa Boyette (Marietta) continued her dominance, tossing her 16th complete game of the season and notching her 16th win, moving her record to 16-1. The junior allowed just one unearned run on five hits while striking out nine batters. Her season ERA dropped to 1.44.

Game two of the twinbill did not see quite the offensive output as the first contest, as Georgia College scored five runs on seven hits.

Junior Taylor Campbell (Warner Robins) smacked her third home run of the season, a two-run shot in the first inning to get the scoring started. The Bobcat designated player also added an RBI single.

LeRoy went 2-for-3 with three runs scored, giving her four hits and four runs on the day.

The other two RBI for the Bobcats came from freshman Shawnda Martin (Calhoun) and sophomore Faith Flanders (Dublin).

The Bobcats split up the pitching in game two, with Cassidy Rice (Du Quoin, Illinois) starting and throwing three shutout innings. The sophomore picked up the win, her second of the season, while giving up one hit and striking out one.

Sophomore Carly Lewis (Seymour, Tennessee) tossed the final four innings, allowing no runs on two hits and recording four strikeouts.

Georgia College is back in action Wednesday, March 25 when they travel to Savannah for a PBC doubleheader against Armstrong State University. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.
