MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Powered by six extra-base hits, the Georgia College baseball team (21-14) topped Emmanuel College (5-27) 16-8 Tuesday on Miracle League Day at John Kurtz Field.

The Bobcats used the game to promote the Miracle League of Macon as youngsters from the league in Dy'Lon Rayford and Adam King threw out ceremonial first pitches, and the Bobcats raised funds for the league throughout the game.

Once the game started, the Bobcats jumped out early, putting up seven runs in the first inning and never looking back. The Bobcats got runs in bunches, tallying all 16 runs as part of four multi-run innings.

Centerfielder Jake Sandlin (Evans) was the top hitting star, going 3-for-3 in coming a double from the cycle, driving in six and swatting a grand slam in the third. Sandlin leads the Bobcats with nine home runs.

Catcher Steve Hazel (Kentwood, Michigan), leftfielder Colton Montgomery (Cartersville) and designated hitter Brandon Purcell (Glennville) each went 2-for-4. Purcell scored two runs and drove in another, while Montgomery and Hazel each scored a run. One of Montgomery's hits went for a triple.

Shortstop Brandon Benson (Loganville) made the most of his lone hit, a two-run blast off the scoreboard in left center in the sixth.

Starter Brady Walsh (Marietta) scattered five hits and a pair of walks for just a single run over the first three innings. Walsh (3-1) struck out three. Junior Chris Gammon (Chandler, Arizona) increased his scoreless inning streak to 13 by striking out the side in the ninth.

The Bobcats are back in action Friday, April 10 at 6 p.m., traveling to Lander University for Peach Belt Conference (PBC) action.
