MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College baseball team (30-17, 15-12 PBC) picked up its 30th win of the season Sunday in convincing fashion, clobbering GRU Augusta (18-28, 11-18 PBC) 18-8 in the regular-season finale and Senior Day at John Kurtz Field.

The Bobcats have reached the 30-win plateau seven times in the eight years head coach Tom Carty has been at the helm.

Second baseman Dylan Cook (Portola Valley, California) got the scoring started in the bottom of the first, ripping a grand slam off the scoreboard in left. After a six-run second for the Jaguars, a two-run shot from Jake Sandlin (Evans) tied the contest.

GRU took a lead in the top of the fourth, but Georgia College spread 12 runs over the next four innings to take over the game. Reliever Charlie Hecht (Johns Creek) was a huge part of the success, entering in the second to shut the door, allowing just two runs over 5 1/3 innings, improving his record to 4-1.

Sandlin finished 4-for-6 with three RBIs and three runs, the home run his team-leading 14th of the year. Third baseman Tanner Giesel (Naperville, Illinois) added three hits in four trips, driving in two and scoring another.

Cook finished 3-for-6 with five RBIs and three runs, while senior first baseman Clay Ardeeser (Loganville) hit a solo home run as part of his 2-for-2 game, scoring four times as he walked in four trips to the plate as well. Senior leftfielder Colton Montgomery (Cartersville) also homered, going 2-for-5 with two runs and an RBI.

Prior to the contest, the Bobcats honored their senior class, as Ardeeser, Montgomery, catcher Steve Hazel (Kentwood, Michigan) and pitchers Josh Pape (Locust Grove) and Jake Anthony (Canton) played their last games at Kurtz Field.

Up next for the Bobcats is the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Tournament in Columbus, May 9-10. Georgia College finishes the season as the No. 8-seed, and will take on No. 1-seed University of North Georgia Saturday.
