#10 Bobcat Softball Splits With Young Harris

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – The No. 10 Georgia College Softball team (14-3, 1-1 PBC) split a doubleheader with Young Harris College (12-4, 1-1 PBC) today in Young Harris, dropping game one 8-3 after three crucial errors for the Bobcats and winning the game two 3-2 after a stellar complete-game outing from pitcher Carly Lewis (Seymour, Tennessee).

Marissa Boyette (Marietta) took the loss in game one, as the Bobcat defense allowed unearned runs in the first three innings.

Young Harris took a 5-1 lead into the sixth when the Bobcat bats showed signs of life, as the only Young Harris error of the day brought in Abi LeRoy (Dublin). A Lacey Najafi (Suwanee) double followed, bringing in Jessica Hayles (Gordon).

The 5-3 score didn't last, though, as a three-run home run put Young Harris up by the final tally of 8-3.

The second game saw a dominant performance by Lewis, as the junior carried a shutout into the sixth inning.

A Faith Flanders (Dublin) single in the fourth inning brought in the first Bobcat run of the game, and in the fifth, a LeRoy single brought in two more Bobcats.

Three runs would be all the Bobcats would need, as Lewis held off a Young Harris comeback attempt, giving up two-runs late in the game but holding the Mountain Lions at bay, securing the win.

The Bobcats move to 14-3 on the year and 1-1 in Peach Belt Conference play.

Boyette falls to 5-2, and Lewis jumps to 8-1 on the season.

The Bobcats are back in action Tuesday in Milledgeville as Augusta University comes to the Peeler Complex for a doubleheader starting at 4 p.m.
