#8 Georgia College Softball Dominates in Day Two at the Shaw University Softball Challenge

RALEIGH, N.C. – Georgia College Softball (19-4, 3-1 PBC) rolled out two more wins today, 6-0 and 9-1, against Winston-Salem University (6-9, 0-0 CIAA) and Tusculum College (12-6, 0-0 SAC).

The Bobcats proved their national ranking today, beating both their opponents on the run rule. Winston-Salem was felled in the top of the seventh, and Tusculum was defeated after five innings of play. Georgia College pitching was outstanding today as well, only allowing one run to score throughout both games.

Carly Lewis (Seymour, Tennessee) got the start from the circle pitching a shutout with ten strikeouts, three walks and only one hit allowed.

Junior Faith Flanders (Dublin, Georgia) kept her powerful play at the plate, going three of four at bat, ripping two doubles and logging two more RBIs to her impressive season thus far. Holland Coursey (Powder Springs, Georgia) had it going on at bat as well, being walked three times and scoring three runs. 

In the second game, senior Marisa Boyette (Marietta, Georgia) started in the circle. She turned up the heat ripping eight strikeouts and only allowing one run and two hits. 

The Bobcat offense kept the ball rolling against Tusculum College. Catcher Lacey Najafi (Suwanee, Georgia) went two for three at bat with one RBI and two runs. Senior Kristen Brooks (Brunswick, Georgia) was perfect batting, going two for two and cracking a triple and a single to earn herself four RBIs and one run.

Georgia College had ten at bats in the fifth inning to close out the day with the run rule, 9-1.

The Bobcats wrap up the Shaw University Softball Challenge tomorrow against Virginia State University at 10 a.m.
