Box Score 2 AIKEN, S.C. – The Georgia College Softball team (39-15, 14-10 PBC) finished its regular season with a bang Sunday, taking a pair from USC Aiken (27-19, 11-13 PBC) on the road 5-4 and 8-2.
Game one was a tight finish, but the Bobcats jumped out early with four runs over the first three frames. A three-run shot from catcher Lacey Najafi (Suwanee, Georgia) got the scoring started in the first, then an RBI double from first baseman Faith Flanders (Dublin, Georgia) gave Georgia College the 4-0 advantage.
USC Aiken inched within a run by scoring two in the fourth and another in the fifth, but a sixth-inning RBI single from Caroline Snider (Tennille, Georgia) gave the Bobcats a 5-3 lead. After a solo home run started the seventh, the Pacers had the game-tying run on second, but Georgia College ended the game with a double play.
Righty Marisa Boyette (Marietta, Georgia) got the win in relief, tossing three innings with two runs and three strikeouts to improve to 12-6. Carly Lewis (Seymour, Tennessee) got the last three outs for her second save. Flanders and Snider each finished with two hits and an RBI in game one.
Game two featured multi-run innings in the first and third, the Bobcats plating three in each frame. A two-run single by third baseman Kristen Brooks (Brunswick, Georgia) was the big blow in the first, while Flanders, designated player Taylor Campbell (Warner Robins, Georgia) and Snider each drove in runs in the third. Run-scoring hits from Flanders and centerfielder Danielle Bernstein (Cumming, Georgia) capped the scoring for Georgia College.
Lewis got the decision in game two, a complete-game victory (20-8) surrendering just one earned run and fanning five. Flanders went 3-for-4 with three RBI and a run, while Snider was 2-for-3 driving in a run as well. Bernstein had two hits in three trips, scoring once and driving in another.
The win brings a close to the regular season for Georgia College. The Bobcats look forward to hosting the PBC Softball Tournament for the second-straight season, with brackets and information coming soon.
