GC Volleyball Tops Emmanuel in Four Sets on the Road

Box Score

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. – The Georgia College Volleyball team (13-4) improved to 6-1 in the month of October with a four-set win at Emmanuel College (12-9) Tuesday night.

The Bobcats nabbed a tough first set 25-23, then dropped the second in extra points 27-25. Georgia College dominated from that point with a 25-15 and 25-12 to close the match.

"We knew tonight would be a tough match, and Emmanuel is a very good blocking team," said head coach Gretchen Krumdieck. "That threw us off our game in the beginning, but we settled down and got into our rhythm. I'm so happy for Chandler (Ewaldsen) getting her 1,000th dig tonight."

Senior libero Chandler Ewaldsen (Savannah) got her 1,000th career dig with her fifth of the contest, finishing with a game-high 23. Ewaldsen is the school's single-game, single-season and career record-holder in digs at Georgia College.

Junior Ebony Powers (Jacksonville, Florida) led the attack with 14 kills. She added five block assists for 16.5 total points for the match. Sophomore Emily Crowell (Horseheads, New York) added 10 for her first career double-digit kills match. Flanking the attack was Taylor Svehla (Cumming) and Emma Boughner (Bogart) with nine kills each. Boughner had six block assists, as the Bobcats finished with 11 as a team.

Junior Kayla Brockway (Jacksonville, Florida) had 40 assists and 11 digs for a double-double. Also helping with double-digit digs was Powers, joining her Floridian teammate with a double-double. Rookie Libby Bochniak (Marietta) added 14.

GC Volleyball improves to 3-0 all-time against Emmanuel.

The Bobcats return to the court Thursday, Oct. 19 at 6 p.m., playing host to the University of West Georgia.
