Box Score MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The No. 27 Georgia College Baseball team (30-12) found offense at a premium Friday night at Auburn University-Montgomery (26-22), falling 5-1.
The Bobcats were held in check by righthander Hank Scott (8-5), tossing a complete-game, allowing five hits and three walks while fanning just one Bobcat hitter.
AUM scored the first run of the game in the bottom of the first, as a run came across on a double play ball. Leading off the fifth, Bobcat catcher Brandon Purcell (Glennville, Georgia) swatted a solo shot to left to tie it up. The score remained 1-1 until the eighth.
The Warhawks used three hits and a pair of walks to plate four runs in the eighth, taking over the game late. Scott got three more outs in the ninth for the win.
The loss spoiled another great start from Bobcat senior Brady Walsh (Marietta, Georgia) on the hill, going 5 2/3 innings with just one run allowed, fanning five and scattering four hits and a trio of walks. Purcell was the lone Bobcat with a multi-hit game, going 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI.
GC Baseball will look to even the series with AUM tomorrow, April 29 at 5 p.m. eastern in game two of the three-game set.
