MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. — The Georgia College Volleyball team (10-8, 3-3 PBC) came alive late, claiming the final two sets in a five-set battle versus Lander University (16-4, 3-2 PBC) Saturday afternoon at the Centennial Center.

The Bobcats opened the match with a first-set win but after dropping the first and second set, the Bobcat offense sparked, winning the fourth 25-16 and fifth 15-8.

In the fifth set, Georgia College trailed 3-2 but rallied to score five straight points to claim a lead they never relinquished. Libby Bochniak (Marietta) had two massive kills to extend the Bobcat lead, with the final kill of the match coming from Emily Crowell (Horseheads, New York)

Senior middle blocker Taylor Svehla (Cumming) had an incredible day, leading the team in kills and blocks with 20 and two on the day. She also tied Emma Boughner (Bogart) for the team lead with three block assists. Kayla Brockway (Jacksonville, Florida) ran the offense to perfection, tallying 53 assists to only two errors. 

With the win, the Bobcats even their Peach Belt Conference record at 3-3. They return to the court Tuesday, Oct. 9 when they travel to Valdosta State University for a non-conference matchup.  First serve is set for 6 p.m.
