GC Softball Drops Pair to North Greenville

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College Softball team (4-4) had a pair of rallies come up short in dropping both games of a doubleheader to North Greenville University (6-2) 8-7 and 5-3.

In game one, NGU jumped in front with a six-run second. The Crusaders plated the six runs on five hits and one costly Bobcat error, causing all but one run to be unearned.

Later falling behind 7-0, the Bobcats began the rally back. One run came in on a single from Amber Coy (Warner Robins) in the fifth, and the Bobcats added four more in the sixth, including a three-run home run from Coy. Down 8-5 into the bottom of the seventh, the Bobcats went down swinging as Coy drove in two more with a single. Coy was the tying run was at second when North Greenville picked up the final out.

Coy finished the game 3-for-5 with six RBIs and a run scored. Senior Deja Lester (Jacksonville) and freshman Sarah Couch (Madison) each went 2-for-3, scored two runs apiece, and Lester drove in one. Centerfielder Caroline Snider (Tennille) added a pair of hits in four trips.

In game two, Georgia College scored two runs in the fourth to take their first lead of the day, but the Crusaders answered right back, scoring the final three runs of the game to get the 5-3 win.

Snider was 3-for-4 in this one with a run, while senior Hannah Coursey (Sugar Hill) was 2-for-4 with a solo home run. Again, the Bobcats had the tying run on base in the bottom of the seventh when the final out occurred.

The Bobcats are back in action Sunday, Feb. 18 at 1:30 p.m., traveling to Anderson University.
