Box Score 2 ANDERSON, S.C. – The Georgia College Softball team (5-5) evened out its record in a split of action at Anderson University (10-4) Sunday afternoon, taking the first game 5-3 and falling in game two 5-0.
Junior Kayla Price (Indian Land) provided the crucial runs in game one, swatting a two-run home run in the top of the seventh to provide the Bobcats the 5-3 win. The Bobcats got the scoring started in the fifth with three runs, two coming in on RBI singles from Haley Howell (Rochelle, Georgia) and Baylee Hall (Hephzibah, Georgia). The Trojans got two in the fifth and one in the sixth to tie, setting up Price's heroics in the seventh.
Anderson loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the seventh, but Rebecca Lawrence (Vidalia, Georgia) came in to get a strikeout and a flyout to pick up the save. The win went to Becca Meade (Winder, Georgia) improving to 3-1 with 1 1/3 scoreless innings. Hall finished game one 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI.
Game two was all Anderson, as the duo of Harlie Duncan (5-1) and Kayla Pepper combined for the two-hit shutout. The Trojans got a run in the third, and two more each in the fifth and sixth. Lawrence (0-1) took the loss in her first career start, surrendering just a pair of earned runs in the complete game.
The Bobcats are back in action Saturday, Feb. 24 at the 2018 Mid-South Classic in Duncan, South Carolina, taking on Lincoln Memorial University and Converse College.
