#29 GC Baseball Takes Down #25 Pembroke in Walk-off Thriller, 2-1

Box Score

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – A walk-off single from sophomore Cal Gentry (Perry) propels Georgia College (19-7, 14-2 PBC) over the UNC Pembroke Braves (18-6, 6-6 PBC) in a thrilling Friday night contest at John Kurtz Field, 2-1.

Charlie Hecht (Johns Creek) continues to dominate his senior campaign with the Bobcats, holding the Braves to just one run through 7 2/3 innings while allowing 10 hits with six punch-outs.  Hecht had another great performance throwing into the late innings of the ballgame, but was credited with the no-decision due to the game being tied when he exited.

Bradly Cammack (Soperton) came into the ballgame in a tough situation in the eighth, but managed to workout of a jam and shut down the Braves in the ninth to earn his sixth win of the season.

A pitchers duel for the most part Friday evening, but Georgia College's run production came from a SAC fly from Logan Mattix (Loganville) in the first and Gentry's walk-off single in the ninth.

Notable hitting performances came from Wesley Wommack (Monroe) and Brendan Holler (Gilroy, California) who were the only Bobcats to post a pair of hits on the evening.

Georgia College looks to take the series and the sweep when they face off against UNC Pembroke Saturday, March 24 at 12 p.m. for an afternoon doubleheader at John Kurtz Field.
