Box Score 2 YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. - The Georgia College Softball team (20-10, 5-1) split their doubleheader with Young Harris (20-11, 4-2) Friday night in Young Harris, taking game one 9-2 while dropping game two 7-3.
The Bobcats struck first in the top of the second when Lindley Bruce (Kennesaw, Georgia) singled through the left side to bring in Caroline Snider (Tennille, Georgia). Sarah Couch (Madison, Georgia) singled moments later to bring in Bruce for a 2-0 Bobcat lead.
Young Harris brought across a run of their own in the second but the Bobcats answered in the third as Caitlyn Davis (Kathleen, Georgia) came around to score on a Young Harris miscue.
Georgia College added two more in the fourth thanks to an Amber Coy (Warner Robins, Georgia) RBI-double that brought in Baylee Hall (Hepzibah, Georgia) and a Davis single that brought in Coy to make it 5-1 GC.
Young Harris closed the Bobcat lead to three in the fifth but the Bobcats once again answered in the next frame.
Hall scored on an error and Coy brought in Couch with an RBI single.
Georgia College added two more insurance runs in the top of the seventh with a two-RBI single from Couch. Couch finished with a game-high three RBIs. Coy finished with two RBIs.
Jessie Morris (Vidalia, Georgia) threw all seven innings for the Bobcats, allowing one earned run and striking out eight in the win.
In game two the Bobcats took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first after Coy brought in her third run of the series with a single.
Young Harris put three across in the bottom of the second to take a lead they would never relinquish. The Mountain Lions added runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings for their final seven-run tally.
Georgia College scored twice in the fourth thanks to RBIs from Coy and Hall but couldn't cut into the Young Harris lead any further.
Coy finished the series with a team-high four RBIs the day.
The Bobcats return to action Thursday, March 29 as they welcome Albany State University to Milledgeville for a midweek doubleheader beginning at 4 p.m.
Georgia College returns to action on Friday, March 16 to begin an important weekend series at the University of North Georgia. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
