#20 Georgia College Softball Drops Doubleheader at #1 North Georgia, 8-1, 4-0

DAHLONEGA, Ga. – The No. 20 Georgia College Softball team (33-13, 14-4 PBC) came up short in a tall order on the road against the No. 1 University of North Georgia Nighthawks (51-2, 17-1 PBC) Wednesday afternoon, 8-1 and 4-0.

 

Game one started out scoreless through the first two innings but North Georgia broke the tie with a run in the bottom half of the third to take a 1-0 lead. Freshman Caitlyn Davis (Kathleen) answered with a solo-shot to tie the ballgame at 1-1 after the top half of the fifth.

 

North Georgia took over in the bottom half of the fifth after posting four runs to take a commanding 5-1 lead after five innings of play.  The Nighthawks added three more in the bottom of the sixth and shut down the Bobcats in the top of the seventh to take game one 8-1.

 

North Georgia continued their impressive season with another impressive win over Georgia College in game two.

 

The Bobcats were shut-out by Amber Johns who earned her 17th win of the year and maintained her undefeated 2018 campaign. Danielle Rubin (Canton) gave the Bobcats a solid effort throwing five innings while allowing eight hits, two earned runs and striking out one against a stout Nighthawk offense.

 

Georgia College is back on the diamond when they host Columbus State University for Senior Day Saturday, April 27 at 2 p.m.
