AMERICUS, Ga. – The Georgia College Soccer team (2-5-2, 1-1-1 PBC) evened out its Peach Belt Conference (PBC) record in a 3-0 shutout victory at Georgia Southwestern State University (3-5-1, 0-3 PBC) Saturday.

Junior Cassie Balzano (Douglasville) continued her torrid pace, becoming the sixth GC Soccer player in school history to record a hat trick. Balzano scored once in the first half and twice more in the second.

Her first goal came just before halftime, in the 43rd minute. Sophomore Ryann Smith (Sharpsburg) made a cross-field pass to Balzano, who fired home into the far left corner. The assist was the first of Smith's career.

In the 80th minute, Balzano paired up with senior Erin Ferris (Atlanta) to double the team's advantage. Then just under three minutes later, sophomore Alyssa Bergamini (West Suffield, Connecticut) dropped a pass off to Balzano who beat the out-of-place goalkeeper to cap the scoring.

Balzano has already passed her goal total from a season ago, and has 15 in her career. In tonight's action she moved into seventh place in school history, passing Anya Mancinelli (2018).

Kate Richardson (Marietta) and Haley Titus (Savannah) split time in net, with Richardson playing just over the halftime break. The Hurricanes managed just nine shots in the contest with one being on target, a save for Titus.

The Bobcats are back in action Wednesday, Oct. 9 at 7 p.m., hosting Francis Marion University.
