Bats Make Presence Felt in 13-1 Win for #6 GC Baseball

DAHLONEGA, Ga. – In a three-game series shortened to one by rainy weather, the No. 6 Georgia College Baseball team (8-4, 4-0 PBC) made up for lost time, beating Young Harris College (6-6, 2-2 PBC) 13-1 Sunday night.

The Bobcats had six-run innings in both the first and third, and never looked back. In the first, Wesley Wommack (Monroe) hit a two-run home run, and Jay Saunders (Moultrie) added a three-run double.

In the third, Garrett Green (Bogart) added a two-run single, and Cassius Young (Atlanta) a two-run double.

Righty Bradly Cammack (Soperton) held the Mountain Lion hitters in check, throwing 6 2/3 innings with zero earned runs on six hits. Cammack (3-1) fanned four.

Second baseman Cal Gentry (Perry) was 4-for-4 with three runs and an RBI, hitting one of six doubles for the Bobcats. Wommack had the home run, his first this season, finishing 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs.

Green also had three hits, scoring twice and driving in two more, while Saunders finished with two hits, three RBIs and a run. The Bobcats got hits from all nine spots in the order.

GC Baseball is back in action Friday, March 1 at 6 p.m., playing host to USC Aiken.
