MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The No. 6 Georgia College Baseball team (9-7, 4-3 PBC) lost its first Peach Belt Conference (PBC) series at home in over two years Saturday, falling in both games of a doubleheader to USC Aiken (13-4, 5-1 PBC) 7-3 and 11-1.

The last time Georgia College lost a home conference series was also a sweep, dropping all three games to Flagler College Feb. 24-26, 2017.

In game one, the Bobcats got very solid relief pitching but couldn't string any hits together for a big offensive inning.

Seniors Chandler Amason (Grayson), Logan Hicks (Statham) and Perry Keith (LaGrange) combined to go 7 1/3 innings, allowing seven hits for four earned runs, walking just two and fanning 10.

The Bobcats had two multi-hit performers, as shortstop Jayson Cook (Smyrna) was 3-for-4 with an RBI and a stolen base, and catcher Austin Holloway (Social Circle) added two hits, a run and a stolen base of his own. Senior Wesley Wommack (Monroe) tagged his second home run of the season, taking a ball to right in the bottom of the first.

In game two, the Bobcat bats were stifled, held to just five hits and a single run they scratched across in the ninth. Garvin Alston Jr. spun six shutout innings in the win for Georgia College. The Bobcats got strong relief again, as putting up scoreless appearances were freshmen Jacob Hester (Marietta), Brennan Crooms (Metter) and Josh Hudgins (Dunwoody). Hudgins struck out two and didn't allow any baserunners in his first career appearance.

The Bobcats are back in action Tuesday, March 5 at 3 p.m. hosting No. 15 University of Southern Indiana.
