GC Baseball Downed Twice in Saturday Doubleheader versus Flagler, 7-1 and 6-2

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

MILLEDGEVILLE , Ga. – The Georgia College Baseball team (21-17, 11-11 PBC) dropped the final two contests of the series on the road versus Flagler College (24-17, 16-8 PBC), 7-1 and 6-2.

Flagler jumped out to an early lead in game one, plating runners in each of the first three frames. The Saints struck first for a two in the first inning and one each in the second and third.

Josh Hudgins (Dunwoody) got the start for the Bobcats on the mound, lasting 1 2/3 innings and allowing three runs. Two of the three runs were unearned, aided by an early defensive error. Six relievers spanned the remainder of the contest, with the most notable being Colin LoCurto (Kennesaw). LoCurto tossed 2 2/3 innings, the longest mound time for any Bobcat, while allowing two runs and just a single walk.

At the plate, Garrett Green (Bogart) put together the lone multi-hit game for Georgia College. Green executed a perfect bunt for a single in the fourth and moved Noah Mendlinger (Alpharetta) into scoring position with a single to left in the ninth. Medlinger scored the lone run for the Bobcats, after coming across on a Jay Saunders (Moultrie) RBI.

Wesley Wommack (Monroe), Austin Holloway (Social Circle), and Will Hudgins (Dunwoody) also had hits in the contest. Wommack had the only extra base hit with a double.

Game two mirrored the first with tough pitching and good defensive play from the Saints. Flagler held the Bobcats scoreless though six innings, before a Cam Hill (Marietta) single scored Saunders to break through.

The only other run came courtesy of a bases-loaded walk drawn by Matthew Chester (Evans) to score Holloway. The Bobcats rallied in the ninth with the bases loaded but only managed to score the single run.

Hill, Holloway, and Green each picked up two hits on the contest. Holloway and Saunders both came around to score.

Bryce Bowen (Elberton) picked up the loss in the bout, throwing a pair of complete innings and allowing three runs. Bowen also had four walks in the contest that led to the majority of his earned runs. Chris Rolick (Marietta) masterfully closed much of the gap in relief, as he tossed 3 1/3 innings and allowed just a single run. Rolick struck out a pair of Saints.

The Bobcats return home next weekend for a three-game series with Augusta University. The first game of the series is scheduled for Friday, April 19 at 6 p.m.
