COLUMBUS, Ga. – The No. 20 Georgia College Softball team (31-14, 9-5 PBC) dropped two games at Columbus State University (31-13, 11-3 PBC) 8-2 and 8-7 Tuesday night.

Game one was controlled start to finish by the Cougars, with CSU using a six-run third to take over.

The Bobcats rallied in the sixth with two runs, including an RBI single from Jessie Barre (Pooler), but it wasn't enough.

Designated player Hannah Rogers (Marietta) went 2-for-2 with a run scored and a double. The loss went to Bobcat starter Kayla Price (Indian Land, South Carolina) in 2 1/3 innings of work.

Game two was a bit closer, with the Bobcats jumping in front thanks to a grand slam from centerfielder Darby Pinkard (Acworth) in the fourth. The home run was the first of the freshman's career.

CSU tied the game in the bottom of the fourth, but GC jumped back in front with three in the fifth, highlighted by a two-run single from sophomore Lindley Bruce (Kennesaw). The Cougars plated one in the sixth and then rallied for three more in the seventh to steal the win.

Junior righty Danielle Rubin (Canton) took the loss, throwing three innings in relief.

The losses drop the Bobcats to 9-5 in Peach Belt Conference (PBC) play, positioned fourth in the league standings. The Bobcats have six more conference matchups on their schedule.

The Bobcats are back in action Thursday, April 18 at 3 p.m., traveling to Flagler College.
