MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College Baseball squad (22-18, 12-12 PBC) split a doubleheader with Augusta University (18-27, 7-22 PBC) Saturday at John Kurtz Field, taking the first game 15-0 before falling 6-4 in the second.

The first game was an offensive showcase for the Bobcats, pounding out 19 hits for the 15 runs. Centerfielder Cam Hill (Marietta) had three hits in six trips, scored twice and drove in another.

Leftfielder Shane Connahan (Beaver Springs, Pennsylvania) added two hits with three RBIs, scoring a run as well. Second baseman Cal Gentry (Perry) and catcher Austin Holloway (Social Circle) each went 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Shortstop Cassius Young (Atlanta) had a 2-for-3 game as well, driving in two and scoring twice.

Rightfielder Wesley Wommack (Monroe) had two hits, two runs and an RBI, while third baseman Garrett Green (Bogart) also tallied two hits, scoring twice and driving in another. First baseman Tarez Miller (McDonough) had two hits and a run. The five Bobcat seniors in the lineup combined for eight hits, six runs and six RBIs.

Lost in the offensive barrage was a lights-out performance from righty starter Kyle King (Johns Creek). King (3-0) scattered five hits and a walk over seven scoreless innings, fanning 10 Jaguar batters.

In game two the Bobcats never led, thanks to a four-spot put up by Augusta in the third. Georgia College tied the game in the bottom of the seventh on a single by designated hitter Matthew Chester (Evans), setting up heroics for the Jaguars in the top of the ninth.

Sophomore rightfielder Skylor Murphy ripped a two-run shot over the right center fence for his first collegiate home run, and the gap the Jaguars would need to get the win.

Young went 2-for-3 in this one with two RBIs, a double and a run. Green had a 2-for-3 game as well, scoring once. Miller had two more hits in four trips.

Senior reliever Bradly Cammack (Soperton) had a great relief outing spoiled by Murphy's home run. Cammack (3-5) went 6 1/3 innings, allowing four hits and two walks, fanning nine, his one mistake being the the two-run shot.

In game one, a single from Wommack gave the senior 271 hits in his career, passing Logan Mattix (2018) into sixth place in school history.

The loss puts GC at 12-12 in Peach Belt Conference (PBC) play, positioned seventh in the league standings. The top eight teams advance to the PBC Tournament in May.

The Bobcats finish the three-game set with the Jaguars tomorrow, April 21 at 11 a.m.
