GC Baseball Falls 11-3 to Columbus State on Senior Day

Box Score

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - Powered by a six-run second inning, the Georgia College Baseball team (25-19, 15-13 PBC) had Senior Day spoiled by Columbus State University (28-17, 13-13 PBC) Sunday, falling 11-3 to the Cougars at John Kurtz Field.

The Cougars, already leading 1-0, rattled off six consecutive hits in the second, sending 11 hitters to the plate and netting six runs. The Bobcats had trouble solving tough lefty Kolten Ingram as well, eventually dropping to 11-2.

The Bobcats still got the series win, thanks to victories on Friday and Saturday against CSU.

Lefty starter Brad Spinner (Roswell) took the loss, falling to 7-3 this season.

GC had few hitting stars, totalling only eight hits and three runs. Leftfielder Austin Holloway (Social Circle) was the lone multi-hit performer, posting two singles in three trips.

Prior to the contest, the Bobcats honored their 16 seniors, as this large group of Bobcats played their final Sunday home game. Totalling 137 victories over three years, this group has won three Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Tournament Championships, adding a PBC Regular-Season title in 2018.

The Bobcats honored bullpen coach Brooks Luther, outfielders Shane Connahan (Beaver Springs, Pennsylvania) and Wesley Wommack (Monroe), infielders Garrett Green (Bogart), and Eric Furphy (Suwanee), pitchers Connor Wilson (Newnan), Spinner, Harrison Veldsma (Marietta), Logan Howard (Cumming), Logan Hicks (Statham), Chandler Amason (Grayson), Colin LoCurto (Kennesaw), Perry Keith (LaGrange) and Bradly Cammack (Soperton), designated hitter Will Hudgins (Dunwoody), and utilty man Tarez Miller (McDonough).

The Bobcats are back in action Saturday, May 4 at 2 p.m., playing host to No. 2 North Greenville University to wrap up the regular season.
