ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – It took 11 innings, but the Georgia College Baseball team (26-19) finally got past a plucky Young Harris College (32-19) squad 10-6 in 11 innings Friday at the Peach Belt Conference Tournament hosted by Flagler College.

The Bobcats jumped out 4-0 early, also led 5-4 in the ninth, and finally used a five-run top of the 11th to down the Mountain Lions.

In that inning, first baseman KC Brown (Rincon, Georgia) led off with a single, taking second on a sacrifice bunt. After another out and a walk, catcher Austin Holloway (Social Circle, Georgia) busted out of his previous 0-for-5 slump with a with a single to right to plate Brown.

Third baseman Garrett Green (Bogart, Georgia) then doubled home two runs, followed by a two-run home run from shortstop Cassius Young (Atlanta, Georgia) to cap the scoring. The Bobcats gave up a run in the bottom of the 11th, but closed it out for the 10-6 win.

Green finished 4-for-5 with two RBIs, three doubles and a run. Young finished 3-for-6 with the home run—his second of the year. He drove in two and scored twice. Brown was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs, while designated hitter Matthew Chester (Evans, Georgia) went 2-for-5 with a run.

Reliever Perry Keith (LaGrange, Georgia) improved to 3-1 with the two innings of work, allowing a single run on two hits.

The Bobcats continue pool play tomorrow, May 11 with a split doubleheader, playing at 10 a.m. against Georgia Southwestern State University and 5 p.m. against the University of North Georgia. Both games tomorrow will be at St. Johns River State College in Palatka.
