AUGUSTA, Ga. – With the historic first regular-season complete, the Peach Belt Conference has announced the bracket for the 2020 Overwatch Tournament, presented by Studio Architects. The esports event will begin this Friday, Nov. 20, with four quarterfinal matches. The semifinals and finals will be played on Saturday. All matches will be conducted online to keep with current COVID-19 safety protocols.
Columbus State is the #1 seed after running the table in the regular season with a perfect 9-0 record. The Cougars did not drop a map, winning all matches with 2-0 scores.
Florida Southern is the #2 seed after going 8-1 in the regular season while Henderson State is #3, Montevallo #4 and North Georgia #5.
Coker, Georgia College and USC Aiken all finished with a 3-6 mark and entered into the PBC Tiebreaker. The first step was to form a mini-conference of the three teams and look at their head-to-head results. This did not break the tie as all three were 1-1 against the other two. From there, result against the #1 seed was examined, then #2 if that didn't break the tie and all the way through the standings.
USC Aiken grabs the #6 seed thanks to a win over North Georgia. UNG defeated both Coker and Georgia College. With the Pacers at #6, Coker and GC return to the first step of the two-way tiebreaker, which is the head-to-head result during the season. With that, Coker takes the #7 seed thanks to their 2-0 win over Georgia College back on Oct. 17.
All quarterfinal matches of the PBC Tournament will be best-of-3 maps. The semifinals and finals will be best-of-5. All maps and game modes will be assigned by the conference prior to the tournament start.
All quarterfinal matches will be streamed by the respective teams on their individual Twitch channels. Saturday's semifinals and finals will be live streamed on the PBC Twitch Channel.
