GC Men's Basketball Drops Road Battle at Columbus State, 75-59

COLUMBUS, Ga. – The Georgia College Men's Basketball team (9-13, 6-8 PBC) lost on the road Monday at Columbus State University (13-9, 8-6 PBC), 75-59.

In a tight contest for the first half, the matchup featured four ties and four lead changes in the first 20 minutes. GC hit a cold spell in the second half, CSU going on a 20-3 run to take a 65-41 advantage at the 7:45 mark in the second half.

The Bobcats were led by sophomore guard Wesley Simpson (DeLand, Florida/Union Grove HS (Ga.)) with 17 points and nine rebounds. Simpson hit 6-of-9 from the floor and all three of his long-range shots. Junior Jordan Thomas (Conyers) added 15 points to the cause, while sophomore Christian Koneman (Chatsworth) chipped in 13.

GC Men's Hoops was out-shot 44 percent to 32 percent from the field, and out-rebounded 45-33. The Bobcats kept in the game with six threes to just two for CSU. The Bobcats caused 16 turnovers and coughed it up 11 times.

The loss puts the Bobcats at 6-8 in league play, tied for seventh in the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) standings. The top eight advance to the PBC Tournament March 4.

The Bobcats are back in action Wednesday, Feb. 12 at 7:30 p.m., traveling to Young Harris College (7-15, 5-9 PBC). The Mountain Lions most recently beat Francis Marion University 92-79 at home Sunday.
