YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – In a tight game throughout, the Georgia College Men's Basketball team (10-13, 7-8 PBC) outlasted Young Harris College (7-16, 5-10 PBC) 72-65 in overtime on the road Wednesday.

The two teams stayed close for the entire 50 minutes, staying at under a 10 point differential for the entire contest. The Bobcats won in overtime, but the game nearly didn't make it there. After a GC free throw put the Bobcats up 56-53 with seven seconds left, the Mountain Lions grabbed a missed second attempt, and Ryle Owens made the game-tying shot as time expired.

The overtime frame was run by the Bobcats, holding the Lions scoreless for the final 2:30. It was the Justin Cave (Savannah) show in overtime, as the junior rattled off 11 points, including a pair of threes.

Cave finished with 23 points on the night, hitting 5-for-9 from long range and 8-of-10 from the charity stripe. Sophomore Chris Parks (Buford) added 13 points, as did reserve forward Christian Koneman (Chatsworth). Junior Jordan Thomas (Conyers) brought 11 points to the battle.

The Bobcats out-shot the Mountain Lions 40 percent to 33 percent from the field. The game featured a whopping 32 ties and 20 lead changes.

The win gives the Bobcats a season series sweep of Young Harris for the first time in program history. The victory also puts GC at 1-4 in overtime contests this season.

The win moves the Bobcats to 7-8 in league play, tied for sixth in the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) standings. The top eight advance to the PBC Tournament March 4.

The Bobcats are back in action Saturday, Feb. 15 at 5 p.m., traveling to Georgia Southwestern State University (8-13, 3-12 PBC). The Hurricanes most recently lost at Clayton State University 81-80 tonight.
