ANDERSON, S.C. – The Georgia College Softball squad (1-7) took the fight to 2019 NCAA Regional Qualifier Anderson University (6-4) Sunday, dropping both ends of a doubleheader 6-2 and 5-4.

In game one, GC found itself down 6-0 after two. An RBI single from centerfielder Darby Pinkard (Acworth, Georgia) and a squeeze play helped the Bobcats get a pair in the fifth, but they could inch no closer. GC left runners on in the sixth and seventh.

Pinkard finished 2-for-4 with the RBI. The Bobcats had four doubles among their eight hits.

Junior Rebecca Lawrence (Vidalia, Georgia) took the loss to fall to 0-1. Senior Amber Coy (Warner Robins, Georgia) provided solid relief, 5 1/3 innings with just a single run.

Game two was decided by a single run. The Bobcats had a strong three-run rally in the sixth to pull within one, but couldn't get the equalizer. Sophomore Jessie Barre (Pooler, Georgia) supplied an RBI single in that sixth as the Bobcats took advantage of defensive miscues as well.

Freshman Brooke Lougher (Suwanee, Georgia) was 2-for-3, and sophomore Hannah Rogers (Marietta, Georgia) swatted a solo blast to right in the fifth; the first career home run for Rogers.

Sophomore MacKenzie Michels (Lilburn, Georgia) took the loss (0-1) in 4 1/3 innings of work.

The Bobcats are back in action Saturday, Feb. 22 at 1 p.m., traveling to Newberry College.
