ORANGEBURG, S.C. – The Georgia College Softball team (4-8) earned a sweep Friday in their doubleheader at Claflin University (6-8).

The Bobcats took game one by a score of 6-0. Sophomore MacKenzie Michels (Lilburn, Georgia) pitched a shutout in the win, improving to 2-1 on the season.

Freshman Sadie Waters (Cumming, Georgia), sophomore Darby Pinkard (Acworth, Georgia) and senior Amber Coy (Warner Robbins, Georgia) combined to tally the team's six RBIs.

Georgia College followed up their performance in game one by taking game two in six innings via run rule to complete the sweep, posting a final score of 10-2 behind the pitching of Rebecca Lawrence (Vidalia, Georgia). Lawrence now owns a 1-1 record on the season.

The Bobcats' batting was on point in game two, with several players finding success at the plate. Sophomore Jessie Barre (Pooler, Georgia) went 3-for-4 and freshman Brooke Lougher (Suwanee, Georgia) had a 2-for-4 game. Junior Haley Howell (Rochelle, Georgia) went 4-for-4 with three RBIs, and freshman Lauren Sommerer (Loganville, Georgia) posted a 3-for-4 effort driving in a pair.

Georgia College Softball will look to continue their winning ways as they return home to prepare for a doubleheader against Wingate University Sunday, March 1 at 1 p.m.
